Abstract:

All modern information systems (IS) use database systems (DBS) as their main component for data storage. Nowadays, the basic knowledge about DBS (their application in practice) is essential in many professions (not only in ICT). Therefore a well prepared and experienced teacher of informatics, who can handle growth of demands on his performance, can reflect on new ICT (Information and Communication Technologies), effectively teach them and use them in his work, should be a goal of all study areas, that prepare teachers for all levels of education.

The article deals with advanced DBS education for future teachers of informatics. This is mainly performed by optional subjects that are usually part of curriculums at each university. These optional subjects should supply students with practical knowledge from DBS application in ICT practice and introduce them into process of IS design.

Main goal of article is to outline: current state of DBS education in education system; training of teachers of informatics; possible directions of curricular transformations (part of our PhD. work); what demands could be teacher of informatics facing in his practice in future education system – his position in particular school environment (counseling, building and administration of school IS, etc.) etc .
