Abstract:

In Germany there isn’t a standard Computer Science Education curriculum, whereas in Hungary we have a national curriculum. In Germany each region (16) has its own Ministry of Education with its own right to set the curriculum and the number of hours per weeks. The consequence is that when moving to another region, the students have to take an exam at the new school from all the subjects which have a different content. In all the regions there is an entry limit in teacher training at universities, which means that only those students can learn and qualify as a teacher for whom the region can guarantee a job after graduation. It means that these graduates will always have a secure job in the region until they retire. The standard of computer science education is very different between the regions. In some regions computer science education is compulsory, like in Hungary, in others it is not even optional.
